About those romans... have you ever watched Gladiator? It's probably one of my favorite movies; I think it's very well done. The movie has, however, always disturbed me a bit. Look at all those people cheering on pain and death! How barbaric! Good thing we're more civilised these days... *cough cough* (don't those girls behind the glass look concerned?)
they're not fighting to the death. they're just fighting! besides, some of those fights are sorta honorable. whenever my friends got in them, it was to get a teammate's back. granted, some just get in fights for stupid reasons but some fights are legit
ReplyDeletethe point isn't about the players; it's about comparing ourselves as an audience to those who watched (and enjoyed) the gladiators. do we only cheer on "honorable" fights?
